Sunderland keeper Mignolet, 23, needed surgery following the clash with the Aston Villa striker at the end of October.

The Belgian, who has worn a protective mask since returning to action this month, said: "It's just one of the perils of the job.

"I can't remember much about it because I blacked out and spent two nights in hospital.

"There was no blame on Emile's part. He was just looking for the ball when the cross came over."
